Image
Photo by  Jordy Meow  on  Unsplash       Russia has been in troubled waters so far this year, starting off the year with the invasion of Ukraine. Nine months later, with the Ukraine invasion still ongoing, Russia just did something new that has NATO looking at them closer than ever. Early in the morning of November 15th, Russia bombed Poland with a missile killing two citizens of Poland. The missile that struck Poland came down in Przewodow, which is just 3 1/2 miles from the Ukrainian border. It is still unclear if the missile actually came from Russia, but Russia is highly suspected despite Russia's defense ministry denying that the missile originated from Russia.        United States President Joe Biden was quick to call an emergency meeting Tuesday morning after being woken up by the news. Joe Biden called up the "Group of Seven," which consist of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United ...

What is Joe Biden Expecting of China Over the Next Two Years?

Image
Photo by Jon Tyson on Unsplash       Recently Joe Biden and the leader of China, Xi Jinping, got together to talk about the future of the relationship between America and China and what the two countries expect from each other moving on in the next two years. President Joe Biden was eager to meet with Xi Jinping for two reasons, he has only talked to the leader of China 5 times since he took  presidency back in 2020, and of those five times they met, it was over the phone or video call, but this was mainly due to COVID-19 restrictions. Secondly, both America and China view themselves as powerhouses in regard to competition, and this meeting would help them to talk about meeting eye to eye going forward.      Joe Biden had a clear outline of the topics he wanted to bring up to Xi Jinping that he wanted to cover and discuss. Joe Biden has always been straightforward with China's leader, leaving no room for assumptions, he told reporters on Monday...

Now that the midterm elections are over, Joe Biden has decided to turn his attention to the ongoing Brittney Griner trial in Russia.    For those that do not know, Brittney Grinner was taken into custody and arrested in Russia back in February when attending a Russian Premier League for basketball. She was caught with cannabis oil which is seen as an illegal substance in Russia. Her trial started in July, going into the months of August when the Russian court decided that she would serve nine years in Russian Prison. Things only got more complicated due to the fact of Ukraine and Russian conflict that unfolded shortly after her arrest. There was an appeal made in the court where Griner was trying to get the nine-year sentence appealed, but on October 25th, the original sentence was waived fair.  ...

Winter is Coming What is Joe Biden Doing About it?

Image
Photo by Alex Perz on Unsplash       For many Americans, the winter season has been rough to make ends meet when it comes to paying bills; from heating expenses to the holidays, money can be very tight. Being able to afford the heating bill is most likely the priority during the winter. Between inflation and this winter speculated to be colder than previous ones within the United States, many Americans find themselves in a familiar boat of worrying about their heating bill.        The Biden administration announced on November 2nd that they are planning to use $4.5 billion to help aid expenses when it comes to home heating costs. This is due to the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, aka LIHEAP, which has been helping lower home heating costs since 1981. Last year they took a significant role in helping the Biden administration use $8 billion last winter to help with Joe Biden's COVID-19 relief plan, which had mixed results from consumers....

Biden's Student Aid Plan Already Falling Apart? v3

Image
Photo by Alexander Mils on Unsplash      President Joe Biden has been pushing hard on his student loan debt relief. He promises $10,000 in relief for households whose income is below $125,000. This sort of student debt relief has been a big focus for the Democratic party, and many are happy to finally see action being taken in such an easy and approachable way. Biden was happy to announce that 22 million Americans have already gone through the process of signing up for the relief.      Though Joe Biden and his administration have already had to jump through many hoops to get to this point, one more obstacle has shown up. On October 21st, the federal court "temporarily blocked President Joe Biden's plan to cancel billions of dollars in federal student loans." ( Salter ) The group that has made this halt possible were some of the Republican-led states. If one recalls, these were the same states already giving the student loan debt relief plan a hard t...

President Biden's focus has mainly been on making Medicare more affordable and accessible than ever. From lowering the costs of different Medicare plans to make hearing aids a new over-the-counter experience, it seems like Joe Biden has been tackling it all. His team's most recent project has been looking at reducing the cost of Insulin.  Joe Biden recently announced that through Medicare, insulin will now be at a $35 cap per month. This is all thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act. The Inflation Reduction Act makes this possible by protecting "Medicare recipients from catastrophic drug costs by phasing in a cap for out-of-pocket costs..." ( TheWhiteHouse ). Joe Biden said, "we took on big pharma, and we beat them, finally."          The i...

Image
Photo by Jose Luis Magana  on  AP NEWS      On October 6th Joe Biden publicly announced that all prior offenses towards possession of marijuana are now pardoned. This is huge progress in the ongoing decriminalizing process and debate on whether marijuana should be legal or not. Also, another big step in the ongoing issue that has drastically impacted the people of color community. Though the pardon is not defending those who were arrested with possession of intent to distribute, those will continue to have their charges with them. This pardon can also help lead to more job employment. Joe Biden stated, "There are thousands of people who have prior Federal convictions for marijuana possession, which may be denied employment, housing, or educational opportunities as a result." Just last month, Joe Biden made a tweet about how over 263,000 jobs were added, now over 10 million since Joe Biden has been in office. Does this pardon expect to add a large growth to ...
