Medicare in the United States

Image
Photo by  Towfiqu barbhuiya On Unsplash          Since 1950 after former President Lyndon Johnson signed Medicare into law, it has been providing federal health insurance to Americans. Medicare has had a huge success in providing those in need over the age of 65 with affordable healthcare options. Though throughout the years of Medicare's business, there have been many debates on Medicare itself, like the funding required to keep it affordable. Funding is made possible due to "...general revenues, payroll, tax revenues, and premiums paid by beneficiaries..." ( Cubanski and Neuman ).    There are currently four different plans for Medicare that cover different areas of aid, plan A, B, C & D. Recently, Joe Biden announced on Twitter for the first time in over a decade that the price for Medicare's plan B (Medical Coverage) price has gone down. This is a big relief after the prices have recently been going up for this Medicare plan. ...

The Ongoing Tension Of Student Debt In America

Image
Photo By Alice Pasqual On Unsplash     The canceling of student debt has been an ongoing topic within the political world. Historically the  Democratic party has been in favor of canceling student debt with progressive tax rates that help benefit the lower class. Recently President Joe Biden has been making strides towards achieving this goal.         Canceling student debt what does this exactly mean, does debt towards education just magically go away for everyone? Well, it depends, "Biden is erasing $10,000 in federal student loan debt for those with incomes below $125,000 a year, or households that earn less than $250,000." ( AP NEWS ) Which statics have shown that finically for the government, these circumstances will be the best way to tackle this problem. Though this topic has been debated for a long time in the Democratic party, Joe Biden has been getting lots of negative feedback on social media for this to come into effect.  ...

Does the President Control Gas Prices?

Image
Photo By Dylan Hunter on Unsplash   For the past two years, there has been an emphasis on gas prices and how the current president at the time has handled them. At the height of the COIVD-19 pandemic in 2020, under the Trump Presidency, we saw gas prices at an all-time low compared to the previous years. Due to the majority of international and national transportation being put on halt, "fuel demand cratered 40%." ( Lenard ) The price of gas slowly went up as Biden took office, though soon prices began to skyrocket.       Many were quick to blame Joe Biden for the increase in the price of gasoline but were naive to see the different circumstances between his presidency so far and Trump's, with COVID-19 being the main factor. Many were thinking, though, the pandemic is over, why are gas prices now higher than ever than the "average" price Ameri...

Conveniently Timed Tweets Helping Joe Biden Stay Out of Trouble in the Public Eye?

Image
Photo By Jue Huang on Unsplash       A recent Tweet from Joe Biden shows that with the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, they are investing over $25 billion dollars to upgrade the infrastructure of America's airports. One may ask why American airports need help finically. There are a few reasons, and recently, there have been more and more canceled flights due to understaffing of airlines to the airports themselves. This has led to the quality of the airports deteriorating and other understaffing issues. Also, American airports are lacking in many areas compared to other countries. President Joe Biden said, "We've talked about having the best economy in the world... we're finally Getting it done."       Though despite wanting to keep up efforts in competing to have the best airports and other transportation systems in the world, does this tweet seem somewhat conveniently timed when looking at the day it was tweeted? Right after the 21st anniv...

How did President Joe Biden further the political bias in America?

Image
Photo By Gage Skidmore  on Openverse      On September 1st, 2022, the President of the United States, Joe Biden, gave a speech in regard to the ' Battle for the Soul of the Nation .' President Joe Biden touched on many topics, the violence in America, American Politics, the Republican party, and Trump and his MAGA followers, just to name a few. Throughout his entire speech, there was an overarching theme of rebuilding America and protecting it. Protecting it from what you may ask, MAGA supporters is what you would guess Joe Biden would say after reading/listening to his speech. This speech left a bad taste in the media's mouth. President Joe Biden, despite talking about rebuilding America, talked about creating a larger divide within the United States.          "Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic," said President Joe Biden, though he was quick to follow up wi...
